Jane,

I have enjoyed checking out your website.

This quote really jumped out at me: "In Webworld, jurnos can’t make a living on stories alone; the truth is, we never did."

I am looking forward to learning more about your world, and am only sorry I didn't do more research before our in-person meeting. It seems to make a lot of sense to me!

It's Amy Senk, can't seem to log in as that for this comment. But yes, this study is sure funny. Just last week, a reporter at the Daily Pilot told me she reads my site every day. "I love it. I steal all your stories," she said, not even thinking that was a strange thing to be admitting to me. Of course, I already knew it. Daily Pilot is owned by Tribune and is distributed through the L.A. Times. So it's very ironic that the LA Times would claim print papers are coming up with news stories when their own staffers admit stealing from online sites like mine.

Good article about business plan. When we start a business first we make a perfect planning, knowledge and market analysis for that.

[...] Justin, who runs the capitolhillseattle.com blog, lives the placeblogger life, building the platform along with Scott Durham, president of Instivate. “We’re out here doing the work,” he says — a key to understanding what it takes to be successful and to build good software that suits the hyperlocal niche. He believes that being successful as a placeblogger means finding a pace that you can sustain – and that means doing it every day. reJurno has done a review of capitalhillseattle.com’s inner workings.
> hyper-local is the most stupid term I’ve heard in a long time.

Agreed. At Toronto ONA 2007 I heard Rob Curley (who has successes and failures, think whatever we may of him) give his definition of “hyper-local,” with which I agree:

> People call this “hyper-local”. You know what I call it? Doing your $@#% job!
